The Draft House goes "Green" on its 25th Birthday
Firstly, we want to thank YOU, our dedicated customers for a fantastic 25 Years!
Secondly, we would like to explain what "Green" means. In November of 2007 we became the 3rd restaurant in Michigan to become certified "Green" by the Green Restaurant Association. In an effort to become more environmentally responsible, we realized that there are a great number of "little" things we can do that can make a big difference. You may not even notice the subtle chang es, however we assure you it will not compromise your dining experience with us one bit.
The Draft House
"Green" initiatives
- Recycling efforts have led to a 50% reduction in trash that would have gone to a landfill. Please thank our staff for their efforts.
- Water Conservation efforts have led to a 54% reduction in water usage. Fixtures throughout the building were either replaced or retro-fitted with water saving devices.
- Styrofoam-free. All our take out containers, etc are now made from 100% post consumer recycled paper, and manufactured in an environmentally friendly practice.
- Sustainable Seafood. You should be happy to know that your fish choices at the Draft House are not only good for the environment, but also good for you.
- Non Toxic cleaning supplies and chemicals. We've found that the "earth friendly" choices work just as good.
- Fair Trade Coffee. We purchase our coffee beans directly from the growers or their cooperatives, guaranteeing them a decent wage.
- Hand towels made from 100% post consumer recycled paper.
- Energy conservation efforts such as installing Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs in storage areas, along with motion switches.
